Qarnot secures additional funding from the European Innovation Council Fund to develop the future of European HPC cloud.

Qarnot, a leading European provider of cloud high-performance computing  (HPC), has secured a new round of funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund. This partnership marks a turning point in the development of cost-efficient, and sustainable HPC solutions, reinforcing Europe's industrial competitiveness and technological sovereignty. Qarnot will accelerate the deployment of additional computing clusters across strategic locations, providing simplified access to high-performance computing for critical sectors—such as aerospace, automotive, energy,  and AI— alleviating bottlenecks for the massive use of HPC.

The EIC commits to European technological innovation

The European Innovation Council’s decision to support Qarnot highlights the pressing need to develop an independent European cloud HPC solution allowing European SMEs, research centers and corporates easily access to massive HPC capacity, going beyond traditional supercomputer solutions, while adhering to the EU’s strict data protection and sustainability regulations. By investing in a sovereign HPC cloud provider, the EIC guarantees European enterprises and researchers access to secure, high-performance computing power, free from vendor lock-in or geopolitical dependencies.

The EIC Fund’s investment in Qarnot is part of a broader European strategy to strengthen technological sovereignty and deep-tech innovation. The EIC Accelerator programme was designed to support groundbreaking technologies that align with Europe’s long-term strategic objectives, providing high-impact startups with the resources to scale their solutions across the continent.

“Europe is taking a decisive step toward building an independent computing ecosystem. When supporting companies like Qarnot, we are ensuring that our researchers, engineers, and deep tech start-ups can innovate freely, without relying on external providers.” said Svetoslava Georgieva, Chair of the EIC Fund Board.

Qarnot is powering Europe’s Industrial deep-tech need for HPC

This new fundraising bets on democratizing access to HPC and building a fully sovereign, sustainable cloud infrastructure.

Qarnot’s intuitive cloud HPC platform is designed to remove IT complexity, allowing engineering teams to focus entirely on R&D. By continuously enhancing its ease of use and scalability, Qarnot ensures seamless engineering workflows management, enabling industries to scale their computational needs effortlessly.

At the same time, Qarnot remains committed to providing a fully sovereign European cloud infrastructure, guaranteeing data security and compliance. This infrastructure is not only cost-efficient but also environmentally responsible. Through its pioneering heat reuse technology, Qarnot converts computing waste heat into a valuable energy source, actively contributing to Europe's decarbonization objectives.

“The EIC is delivering a bold response to the challenges we face today—rising energy costs, geopolitical uncertainty, and the pressing need for digital autonomy— by investing in Qarnot’s next-generation cloud HPC platform, Europe is a hub of innovation, and with the right support, its deep-tech companies will drive the breakthroughs that will shape our technological future” adds Paul Benoit, co-founder and CEO at Qarnot.

Qarnot’s HPC cloud solution equips Europe's most innovative startups to drive global competitiveness

Qarnot’s cloud HPC platform provides European aerospace and deep-tech startups with the computational power they need to drive technological breakthroughs and reinforcing the long-term competitiveness of European innovation.

Strategic companies such as MaiaSpace, an ArianeGroup subsidiary, and Dark rely on Qarnot’s infrastructure for complex aerodynamics, propulsion, and thermal modeling simulations. These large-scale computations are critical for optimizing performance, accelerating design iterations, and meeting ambitious development timelines. Companies must leverage cutting-edge technology to remain globally competitive, but they cannot afford to compromise on data security and sovereignty. Performance should not come at the cost of European independence.

With over 80% of Europe’s digital products,  infrastructures, services, and intellectual property controlled by non-European entities, the ability to secure Europe’s technological future is at stake. Qarnot’s expanding HPC cloud platform is closing this gap by democratizing access to high-performance computing while reinforcing Europe’s autonomy.

About EIC Fund

The European Innovation Council Fund from the European Commission is an agnostic Fund: it invests across all technologies and verticals, and all EU countries and countries associated to Horizon Europe. It provides the investment component of the EIC Accelerator blended finance. The European Investment Bank acts as investment adviser to the EIC Fund.

The EIC Fund aims to fill a critical financing gap and its main purpose is to support companies in the development and commercialisation of disruptive technologies, bridging with and crowding in market players, and further sharing risk by building a large network of capital providers and strategic partners suitable for co-investments and follow-on funding.

The Fund pays particular attention to the empowerment and support of female founders as well as the ambition to reduce the innovation divide among EU countries.
